LANDLORDS BE AWARE

NO VOID PERIODS FOR STANDING CHARGES ~ GAS/ELECTRIC SUPPLIERS ARE NO LONGER ALLOWING VOID PERIODS!

Up until today I could advise all my landlords that we have been able to negotiate a void period in respect of standing charges.  Normally relating to your gas, electric and water whilst your rental property has been in a void period.

As of today I have had a personal rental property when I can NOT organise this.

Having completed some research I have been advised by Consumer Direct & IGT and EDF Enegery that void period standing charges are now actually being charged to landlords even though the services are NOT being used.

This is already standard in the commercial property market but is being extended to rental properties being run as a business causing even more standard costs for landlords to have to cope with.  The charge I am being told until recently has been waived by the independants but they are all now passing this cost on the the property owner where there is any amount of void period in between tenants.

I am still reseraching suppliers but as of today can not advice of one that has or is not in the process of implementing this charge.

The particular charge I am advising of is the GTC GAS TRANSPORTATION CHARGE and it will be charged regardless of whether the property is vacant or taken
